Gordon Angus, Director
Gordon Angus has worked in industrial relations for all of his career. He joined one of the largest employer bodies in the country in 2003 as an Industrial Relations Officer. Over the years he held various positions, including Industrial Relations Services Advisor and Industrial Relations Services Manager. Gordon was appointed to the position of Industrial Relations Executive in 2013. He is a key representative in the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council (MEIBC) and the Metal Industries Benefit Funds (MIBFA), with a sound knowledge of the workings of these structures and has been actively involved in metal industry collective agreement negotiations for the past 20 years.
Gordon has had several opinion pieces published in national newspapers, such as The Star, The Mercury and Business Day.
In 2015, Gordon Angus and Associates (Pty) Ltd was formed in order to provide top quality industrial relations advice and training services to companies. In the same year, Gordon was appointed as the Executive Director of the South African Engineers and Founders Association (SAEFA), one of the largest employer associations in the Metal and Engineering industry, a position which he still holds.
Gia Freese, Associate
Gia joined Gordon Angus and Associates in January 2020.
Gia has travelled and lived in Zimbabwe and Botswana before settling in South Africa where she pursued a degree in Law at Rhodes University. Gia graduated from Rhodes University with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws and appeared on the Faculty of Law Dean’s List for Academic Merit in 2014 and 2015.
Prior to joining GA&A Gia completed her articles and gained post article experience at Dockrat Incorporated Attorneys where she worked in Commercial and Civil Litigation, Administration of Deceased Estates and found her general aptitude and strengths in Labour Law. Gia worked closely with labour advocates and trade unions and was involved in numerous labour disputes from inception at CCMA level and progressing through the judicial system to the Constitutional Court.
Gia is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa with 4 years of experience in developing case strategies, providing legal advice and representing clients.
